The answer is simple – LOTS OF THINGS.
The Farmer’s Market is doing great every Saturday morning and there are special doings/music almost every weekend. The vegetables are really coming in now and they are delicious!
The Glove is in full swing – movies (and light dinner) every Friday and special events on Saturday. This month, The John Savage Band will be there on August 13th and the spectacular Beatlemania Again on August 22nd. Tickets for Beatlemania are $20 on pre-sale and $25 at the door.
The Rail Fest is this Saturday (August 8th) and a great time is planned for all! The rain should hold off and we expect a great turnout!
This Saturday is also the date for the The Fulton County Garden Tour 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Canada Lake, Caroga Lake and Peck’s Lake. This event will support the Gloversville Senior Center.
And everyday – before you rush to the Big Box stores – take a walk down Main Street, stop and say hello to the folks at the Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market and all the other stores along Main Street. These are your neighbors and they need your support!
You know the ‘what came first, the chicken or the egg” story? We need more people walking/shopping on Main Street and supporting our local economy; people who walk/shop here need more stores. What will come first??? As walkers/shoppers, we must take the first step! There are stores on Main Street and they need our support – support them and more will come!

Mohawk Harvest has opened on Main Street (51 N. Main) and Opening Day was a huge success! New people came into downtown Gloversville, some other stores on Main Street reported increased traffic. It’s only the beginning but it is a beginning! We have a downtown food market that features locally grown and produced products – that’s a great beginning. Please support Mohawk Harvest!

June 13th was a big success for downtown Gloversville – hundreds of people took advantage of the beautiful day and the activities at the Farmer’s Market, the 1st Annual SVAN/BID Art Show, the Mohawk Harvest Open House and the Glove to wander about the city for a few hours. It was wonderful to see the streets of downtown bustling on a lovely Saturday. It’s only the beginning – more activities are planned for downtown Gloversville through the summer – check the 2020 calendar. Meanwhile check out some of the pictures taken by Frank Ambrose at the Art Show.

Vincent Desantis was honored by the Common Council for years of “dedication and service” to the city. Mayor Hughes recognized him as ” someone who is worthy and does a lot for the community.”
Vince was at the Common Council meeting on Tuesday evening to report on Gloversville2020 and its activities. He had no idea what they were planning and when he found out, he graciously accepted the certificate and then went on to give his report.
Congratulations Vince - you deserve this recognition and much more! We couldn’t be prouder of you!
